What People Are Saying

Concerned community members are speaking out against a 27-unit condominium complex proposed to be built on agriculturally-zoned land adjacent to Rio Grande Valley State Park.

July 24, 2019

Thanks to the generous contributions of 39 individuals, we raised over $2,500 this month for our legal efforts to prevent a proposed 27-unit condominium complex from being built on 3.8 acres of agriculturally-zoned land next to Rio Grande Valley State Park. These funds will go a long way towards helping us preserve the integrity of our community and protect the South Valley’s cherished open spaces. To all those who donated, thank you!

We wanted to share some of the heartwarming comments we received along with the donations from concerned community members like you.

We must continue to protect the Bosque from over development, density, and protect the traditional, cultural, and environmental practices of the area.

"Green" gentrification is still gentrification.

I don't want to see this type of development in the South Valley... The County Commission really doesn't care for the citizens of this unique area. Shame on them.

The South Valley is too special for this shit.

I was born and raised in the South Valley. I now reside out of State... An area that is rezoned (especially if done so illegally) has HUGE consequences for a rural community. It opens up “Pandora’s Box.” I applaud you for fighting this.

Developers seem to show no regard for the spirit of the land or the concerns of the community.

I agree with all of your reasons to stop this. Agricultural land is rare in Albuquerque and we need to stop greedy developers' efforts to gentrify the city with luxury "market rate" housing before it is too late.

Our government is culpable in the degradation and favoritism towards colonists and the gentry. Sue them now, vote them out later.

Keep the Bosque wild.

I donate because 27 condos, cars, road improvement, ad infinitum are not conducive to this neighborhood!

LUCHA POR LO QUE AMAS

Blessings to these neighbors who have the grito to sue their government in order to protect our Bosque.

Let the soul of the South Valley community thrive.

There is nothing more important than the preservation of land and habitat.

If you haven’t donated yet, it’s not too late to make a contribution! This battle could drag on for years, and all donations will help pay our legal fees. Thank you for your continued support!
